Job summary

This post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week to provide oncology management and treatment within the Hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HPB) malignancies and Renal Cancer disease groups. This is a substantive post.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be based at The Christie and will provide consultant level care for patients with HPB malignancies and Renal Cancer. This includes providing outpatient care through the outpatient clinics and day case units (as appropriate), where Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy Treatments are delivered, as well as inpatient care on the main adult oncology wards.

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is an international leader in cancer research and development and is the largest single site cancer treatment centre of its kind in Europe. This post is for a consultant with an interest in hepato-pancreatico-biliary malignancies and renal cancer to support clinical service and research.

The appointee will join 45 Medical Oncology Consultants at The Christie. The successful applicant will become an active member of the hepato-pancreatico-biliary and renal cancer multidisciplinary disease groups, and provide treatment for patients from across and beyond the Manchester Cancer Network through outpatient clinics, ambulatory treatments and inpatient stays. The disease groups have a strong emphasis on research, with an active systemic therapy trial portfolio supported by research nurses and clinical trial co-ordinators.

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • General Medical Council (GMC) registration
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register via one of the following: a.Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview). b.Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration

  • An appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)
