Job summary

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and East Cheshire NHS Trust are seeking to appoint a Consultant Haematologist. This post is a collaborative venture between the Christie NHS Foundation Trust and East Cheshire NHS Trust in Macclesfield to support the development and delivery of clinical and laboratory haematology on the Macclesfield site. The post will be established at the Christie although all the clinical sessions will be undertaken in Macclesfield and the appointee will hold an honorary contract with East Cheshire NHS Trust as a member of the Allied Health and Clinical Support Services directorate. The post holder will be a core member of the leukaemia/myeloma and lymphoma multi-disciplinary teams. The post also offers the opportunity to develop a special interest in an area of haematological malignacy at the Christie if required to suit the interests of the successful applicant.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should have CCT or be on the GMCs Specialist Register and should have significant experience of general and malignant haematology. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, to a professional standard, in spoken and written English. Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that candidates should provide confirmation of this from the relevant College or Faculty in the United Kingdom and attach the confirmation to your application.

About us

The Haematology department at Macclesfield is run by a highly motivated team providing outpatient, day care and inpatient service to BCSH level 2a. This appointment will join the existing team of 12 Christie Consultant Haematologists (8 NHS and 4 Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant) and at East Cheshire will complement the current single-handed Haematologist, Nurse Clinician (also joint appointment with The Christie) and an experienced specialist Nurse.
