Are you keen to branch out into a specialist nurse post looking after colorectal cancer patients with an interest in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS).
Do you have commitment to developing your skills in colorectal nursing and taking on more responsibility and autonomy in practice?.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated band 6 colorectal clinical nurse specialist with excellent communication skills and a passion for this specialist area of nursing.
This post is fixed term covering maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
Implement and monitor systems and processes to ensure that patient needs are comprehensively assessed, appropriately planned, effectively implemented and evaluated according to changing health care needs and varying levels of complexity.
Communicate complex information to medical colleagues. Refer patients to appropriate clinicians, in the Trust or externally, within pre-determined guidelines, according to assessment of patient need and evidence based decision.
Prioritise patient care; supervising and allocating ones own workload, monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of care within pre-determined guidelines.
Supervise the treatment and management of patient care.
Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, including communicating detailed information to clinical colleagues, and maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
Promote patient and public involvement in the improvement of services, and involve patients and carers/relative in the planning and delivery of their care.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team/agencies to ensure that patient needs are met, especially in relation to on-going care needs and discharge arrangements.
Analyse and act on information to proactively manage and maintain NHS targets and standards.
