Main duties of the job
Surgery and Cancer are looking for committed, compassionate and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to join our busy division.
We have part and full time roles available on Ward 11. All candidates are required to have a flexible approach to working, as the successful applicant will be required to work, both day and night shifts, which will include Bank Holiday and weekend working.
Previous NHS experience is desirable, however full training will be provided. Please note, all candidates will be required to complete their Care Certificate within 6 months of being in post.
The role of a Healthcare Assistant is that of a support worker who carries out a wide range of care duties directly with the patient, their relatives/carers or to support the work of the nursing team.
Health care duties are carried out, after training, under the direction of a professionally qualified practitioner and can include the following tasks:
- helping patients to wash or showero serving food and, if necessary, helping patients to eato making and changing bedso turning patients who are confined to bed to avoid pressure soreso talking with patients to help them feel less lonely or anxiouso helping patients with mobility problems to move aroundo giving out and collecting bedpans, helping patients to the toilet and removal of human waste
