Job summary

This post is for a substantive Specialty Doctor in Cardiology. The post holder will work with the Consultant Cardiologists and will be expected to liaise with other disciplines within the Trust. The post consists of outpatient clinics, DSE and Echo lists and management of patients on the inpatient ward in conjunction with the Consultant Cardiologists.

The successful candidate will be based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe in the Cardiology Department, Division of Medicine and Emergency Care. Outpatient clinics may also take place at the Victoria Infirmary in Northwich.

The post is offered on a full time, or job share basis, the job plan being intended for a full time appointment with an opportunity to modify this if the post is offered on any other basis. The successful applicant must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practise.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to undertake 10 Programmed Activities per week which will be made up of 9 PAs of DCC and 1 PA for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).

The DCC will comprise of ward round and clinics in the main but discussions will be held with candidates to discuss any sub specialty interest and factor these into the job plan if possible. There is no on-site catheter laboratory but the post holder will be encouraged to develop their echocardiographic and cardiac CT competencies. There are also opportunities to be involved in teaching/supervision of medical students and to undertake regular audit/research. There is no on-call commitment or general medical commitment to this role.
