Job summary
The Digital Clinical System (DCS) is a major project between Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust and East Cheshire NHS Trust to create an innovative electronic patient record. The system will replace many paper-based records, processes, and some existing IT systems.
As a highly visible leader and a senior member of the Chief Operating Officer's Directorate, the DCS Operational Transformation Lead will oversee the development and delivery of the operational involvement in the implementation of the Digital Clinical System, providing the necessary assurance to the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations through the DCS governance structure.
Main duties of the job
The DCS Operational Transformation Lead will lead a team of operations transformation managers to actively support the delivery of Digital Clinical System both across the organisation and within Divisions, ensuring that Divisions have the help they need to successfully implement the DCS.
With an emphasis on leadership and transformation, this role will ensure operational teams / Divisions are adequately represented, promoting the voice of operational staff in the project. Working within a Division the post holder will be primarily responsible for providing operational input into two modules of the DCS implementation: -

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.

- Produce current state business processes, designed in partnership with Subject Matter Experts (SME) including medical, nursing, AHPs, administration staff, etc.
- Consult on the future state business processes, as designed with SMEs, to provide the opportunity for wider stakeholders to acknowledge and highlight issues with the future processes and to begin to socialise the new ways of working, recognising that this is a significant cultural/behaviour piece.
- Review each build of the modules in the DCS and ensure the appropriate amount of change is being applied at the initial implementation
- Help test each module build incorporating user acceptance testing with a wide select colleagues within the services affected.
- Provide effective and respectful challenge, holding responsibility for many decisions taken in the collaborative documentation review process to ensure the DCS is robust, effective and user friendly.
- Create Policies, Guidance and SOPS (standard operating procedures) drawing in the best practice nationally and regionally and where required, recognising agreed speciality pathways and service level agreements with partner Trusts.
- Increase confidence and digital literacy throughout the workforce to support our teams acceptance of the change.
- Support training prior to the DCS going live.
- Provide Go live and stabilisation support.
- Support optimisation of the DCS into Business As Usual (BAU) utilising the Trusts Continuous Improvement methodology
- Work collaboratively colleagues from both Mid and East Cheshire to build a safe, effective, evidence-based system which meets the health and care knowledge, and information needs of patients and clinicians.
