MID CHESHIRE HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

LEIGHTON HOSPITAL

CONSULTANT ANAESTHETIST WITH AN INTEREST IN PAIN MANAGEMENT

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to recruit a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Chronic Pain Medicine; this is a replacement post and will be based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic team focused on providing high quality patient care for a diverse range of patients

There are posts for 2 chronic pain Consultants within the department, of which this post is one, and a recently appointed Specialist-grade SAS doctor to further support the service. There are regular outpatient chronic pain clinics and pain procedure lists. There are 3 acute pain nurses who are supported by a Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in acute pain.

The chronic pain service at the Trust has a close working relationship with the Community Pain Team and pathways are in place that seamlessly continue the patient's pathway from community to secondary care and back again.

Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including a License to Practice and be on the Specialist Register (or be within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training).

The post is offered on a full-time basis; however, the Department would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include anaesthesia for elective and emergency cases including paediatrics, obstetrics, orthopaedics and general surgery, and a major contribution to the chronic pain service (outpatient clinics and procedure lists), with opportunities to contribute to all aspects of the department's activities, and those of the wider Trust.

This post will contribute to the Consultant Anaesthetist on-call rota (1 in 14 including this post), weekend trauma lists (currently 3 weekends a year).
