An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant in General Paediatrics with an interest in Paediatric Metabolic Medicine and become part of one of the UK's most innovative, research-active and forward-thinking children's hospitals. This new substantive post offers the chance to shape expanding General Paediatric and Metabolic services within a world-class tertiary centre serving Liverpool and the wider North West. You'll work alongside expert multidisciplinary teams, contribute to a vibrant teaching and research environment, support a rapidly developing Metabolic Medicine service through a collaborative hub-and-spoke model with Manchester, and participate in a dynamic general paediatric rota including our newly developed Paediatric Assessment Unit. For candidates without experience in Metabolic Medicine but willing to develop and learn, training and support will be provided.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
Outpatient and inpatient care of General Paediatric and Metabolic Medicine patients.
Support the metabolic clinic run at Alder hey by Manchester Consultants
Review of emergency attendances as required.
Participation in the General Paediatric on call rotas providing appropriate advice as required.
Support the newborn screening service, providing initial assessments of newly identified patients, organizing investigations in collaboration with the team and at the guidance of the metabolic team in Manchester
Liaising within all multidisciplinary professions involved in the care of patients.
Cross-cover and support for other colleagues as required.
Adherence to all Trust policies and guidance.
Adherence to all access standards.
