The Community Speech & Language Therapy team at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust works across the localities of Sefton and Liverpool, and as part of our development, we have a vacancy for Band 6 Specialist Speech & Language Therapists based in Sefton.

We are looking for an experienced therapist to join our innovative community based team, to work with children and young people presenting with a range of social communication needs, language disorders and speech sound disorders.

This is a specialist post, with support from a range of highly specialist speech and language therapists, and access to external CPD courses and opportunities to undertake research encouraged.

This post is based in the community, and so there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to travel to, and between various locations throughout the week.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work in the neighbourhood team of speech and language therapists to provide a high-quality speech and language therapy service to children in a variety of community settings including clinics, schools and nurseries.

We are looking for a therapist who can assess and provide a range of therapeutic interventions using specialist knowledge to children with a variety of speech, language and communication difficulties.

The team work collaboratively with other partner agencies and carers to enable them to understand the communication needs and to provide appropriate advice, support and intervention.

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
  • Health Care Professional Council - Licence to practise.
  • Evidence of completion of RCSLT Competencies

Desirable

  • Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy
  • Evidence of completion of short courses relevant to Speech & Language Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of and experience using a range of assessment tools relevant to the client group
  • Knowledge of, and an understanding of national policies relevant to the client group
  • Knowledge of and experience of a range of appropriate interventions relevant to the client group
