The Community Speech & Language Therapy team at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust works across the localities of Sefton and Liverpool, and we have a vacancy for Band 6 Specialist Speech & Language Therapists based in Sefton.
This is a specialist post, working with a caseload of children and young people presenting with speech, language and communication needs. This post is based in the community; working in community clinics, special schools, nurseries and patients homes, and so there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be able to travel to, and between various locations throughout the week.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a therapist who wishes to further develop their clinical skills with children and young people presenting with speech, language and communication needs in community settings.
To work with the neighbourhood team to provide a high-quality speech and language therapy service to children in a variety of community settings including mainstream and specialist schools, nurseries and patients homes.
To provide specialist assessment of, advice, and a range of therapeutic interventions to children and young people with a variety of speech, language and communication difficulties.
To work collaboratively with other partner agencies and carers to enable them to understand the communication needs and to provide appropriate advice, support and intervention.

Essential
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
- Health Care Professional Council - Licence to practise.
- Evidence of relevant CPD maintained, including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the specialist clinical area
Desirable
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy
- Post-graduate qualification in dysphagia
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Working with a range of relevant communication difficulties at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Knowledge of a range of evidence-based interventions with proven experience of delivering these
- Specialist knowledge of a wide range of assessment tools relevant to a broad range of needs in the paediatric population
- An understanding of the roles of other professionals relevant to the client group.
