Job summary
As this is an apprenticeship position, this role is supported by an accompanying knowledge and skills development programme during which the post holder will gain the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours for this role. Learning will be delivered in the workplace through formal on and off the job training, allowing for the opportunity to practise new skills within a real working environment. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the individual will have the right knowledge, skills behaviours they need for their chosen role.
The post holder will be supported to work towards completion of the following qualification:
Pharmacy Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship with Bradford College
Applicants must be able to evidence that they already hold Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent qualifications (i.e. GCSEs grades A*- C/9 - 4, A-levels, Level 2 Maths and English Functional Skills). Evidence of these qualifications must be submitted prior to interview and if not submitted, this will result in applicants not being offered an interview. Statements of results will not be accepted.

Main duties of the job
1. Commit to all relevant training both in the workplace and at the designated college to enable achievement of BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the principles & practice for Pharmacy Technicians
2. To carry out the routine dispensing and issuing of prescriptions, including in-patients, outpatients and discharge prescriptions that have been clinically screened by a pharmacist in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures in the department.
3. To use the pharmacy computer system to dispense, issue, label and return medicines in accordance with level of training provided.
4. To assist in routine duties in the dispensary including maintenance of stock levels, checking expiry dates and ensuring overall tidiness of the department.
5. To assist in the maintenance of stock control of medicines identifying any discrepancies and bringing these to the attention of senior pharmacy staff.
6. To participate in the preparation of extemporaneous products demonstrating Good Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Practice and adhering to Health and Safety and COSHH requirements.
7. To communicate professionally with other healthcare professionals regarding queries of a straightforward nature.
