Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised individual to join our friendly community dietetic team.

The successful candidate will work closely alongside our team of community dietitians to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.The role will involve providing clinical and administrative support to inpatient and out patient clinical areas across the service.

We are looking for an individual who has a passion for working in the NHS and a desire to improve patient care. Experience of working with multi- disciplinary teams and families would be an advantage. Ideally candidates should be able to demonstrate that they can work effectively without direct supervision.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist the specialist dietitians and other health care staff in providing a quality dietetic service to patients within the dietetic service.
  • To deliver specific elements of dietetic management within a clear defined scope of practice and with clinical supervision provided by the specialist dietitians.
  • To directly support families and other agencies such as schools/care settings to facilitatedietary change.
  • To undertake administrative and clerical duties needed to maintain good organisation of the service and support the dietetic team.
  • Nutritional assessment and provision of dietetic advice, working alongside the dietitian to ensure that patient's nutritional needs are being met.
  • Use of a computerised dietary nutritional assessment program
  • Nutritional resource development for children, adolescents and families.

  • Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year. In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients' homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Alder Park building in the nearby borough of Sefton.

We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We're also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.
