Main duties of the job
The post-holder will support the Futures programme to develop, plan, implement and evaluate internal and external communication and marketing activity and opportunity which increases the visibility of the research, innovation, education and digital activity of the Trust and supports the reputation and builds the profile of Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation. The role involves engaging with key stakeholders including patients, carers, staff, commercial and non-commercial partners.
The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Trust's reputation through proactive internal and external engagement, with a specific focus on Research and Innovation activities.
This role will involve identifying opportunities, aligning with the Trust 2030 Vision, to promote the work in Futures on Trust digital channels, both internal and external and in the press and being able to work with the Trust communications team in securing press coverage, building relationships with journalists and briefing colleagues on opportunities.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinical teams, research, innovation, education and digital staff and external partners to highlight Alder Hey's pioneering work in improving healthcare for children and young people.
The successful candidate will split their time and be based within the Trust Marketing and Communication's team and the Futures team with an opportunity to work at home too.

Communications Management
- Liaising with internal and external partners to ensure communication and marketing activities and events and visits are delivered in a cost effective and efficient way.
- Management of support staff, on and off Trust sites.
- Negotiate and procure best value for communication and marketing services
- Actively liaise with Trust staff and Charity colleagues to facilitate communication and marketing opportunities.
- Providing professional guidance and support to internal teams within the Futures programme including:
- o General advice and guidance on materials and content for the delivery of successful communication and marketing engagement activities.
- Coordination and participation in working groups to provide project advice, comms expertise and support.
- Insight and evidence to evaluate the effectiveness of comms and engagement activity to ensure it meets Trust objectives and contributes to key performance indicators.
- Ensure timely and accurate information analysis and reporting to Operational lead for Futures on agreed areas of work.
- Work closely with colleagues across the communications team and Charity to ensure that comms and engagement activities are joined up and deliver best value.
- Ensure project expenditure is monitored accordingly.
- With the support of the Senior Communications Manager, ensure effective communications to Trust staff in relation to the Futures programme.
- Build close working relationships with event leads within the NHS and other partner organisations to ensure collaborative working and sharing of resources.
Proactive marketing engagement
- Plan and manage proactive marketing engagement in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.
- Maximise opportunities through marketing to raise the profile of Trust and Charity highlighting the Futures programme on a national and international stage.
- Identify new opportunities to increase the reach of the Alder Hey Childrens Futures programme through marketing and engagement.
