Job summary

The Sefton CAMHS team at Alder Hey are looking to recruit a permanent Specialist Mental Health Practitioner.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has an interest and experience in working with young people with mental health needs. The successful applicant will provide a substantial contribution to the clinical work of the team, and will hold full case management responsibility for their workload undertaking appropriate mental health assessment and intervention to children and young people referred to the services, as well as providing advice, support and consultation to families, carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake appropriate mental health assessment of children and young people referred to CAMHS, and provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical interventions informed by assessed individual need. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families, carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person.

About us

The services comprise of several multi-disciplinary teams including staff from varied backgrounds, including psychology, psychiatry, social work, nursing and psychotherapy. In addition, our team members are trained in a wealth of different therapeutic interventions and approaches, making the teams truly multi-disciplinary.

Sefton CAMHS - post holder will be based at Burlington House, Waterloo. Appointments are offered from Waterloo and Southport bases.

Accommodation

Alder Hey will support the cost of accommodation for up to 3 months from the date of employment (up to £500 per month)

The cost is to be paid by the staff member and reclaimed as expenses.

  • Qualified in core profession such as Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Mental Health Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or creative therapies e.g. Art Therapy.
  • Intermediate or diploma level in a recognised therapeutic modality.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of substantial post qualification competence, incorporating significant experience working within CAMHS at a senior level
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of providing consultation/teaching/ training
  • Experience of working with children and young people, families and carers
  • Experience of clinical supervision
  • Experience of leading on developing, delivering and evaluating evidence based clinical care packages.
