Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced paediatric physiotherapist to work in our Acute respiratory service on a permanent basis.

This post will cover acute wards, outpatient clinics and deliver training to parents and carers.

You will have access to regular clinical and managerial supervision and be supported alongside our team of experienced band 7 physiotherapists and our band 8a clinical specialists and management team across the physiotherapy and occupational therapy services within the Acute Therapy Service.

Main duties of the job

To provide a supporting clinical role in the advanced assessment, treatment of patients and training of families and care teamsin the hospital, in outpatient clinics and in the wider community settings.

To be part of a comprehensive physiotherapy service for patients with complex neuro-respiratory needs requiring respiratory physiotherapy, implementing, adapting and training on long term management plans, formulated around evidence-based practice, agreed clinical standards and advanced clinical reasoning. This includes organising, implementing and training family members, carers, nurses and outside organisations on long term physiotherapy management plans, and respiratory skills across a range of settings.

To work as an autonomous clinician using highly developed clinical, analytical and judgment skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/ training in patients within this specialty who have acute and long term, serious and terminal medical conditions. This includes using and interpreting the results of interventions, to appropriately adapt the management of the child's condition and respiratory status.

To be directly involved in the clinical decision-making process as part of the respiratory physiotherapy team, providing appropriate advice and education to families and colleagues to promote optimal therapy management.
