Job summary
The Maxillofacial Surgical Department based at Alder Hey NHS Foundation trust provides a comprehensive outpatient service and day case general anesthetic (GA) service. We are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to support the overall delivery of the service.
We are looking for somebody who can provide support to the organisation for up to 10PA's per week, and we can offer some flexibility around the days of the post, but the essence of the post would be to provide both outpatient clinics and day case GA sessions.
Applicants must have a Registerable Dental qualification and Full registration with the General Dental Council. MFDS /MJDFS or equivalent, and at least 2 years' experience at Senior House Officer/Dental Core Trainee level.
Main duties of the job
Alder Hey provides services in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to the North-West. Surgical interests include, Paediatric dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, Paediatric maxillofacial surgery - emergency and elective, craniofacial surgery and cleft and palate surgery.
The post will provide support to the Consultants in Paediatric Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The post holder will report through the Clinical Director, of the Department, within the Division of Surgery, with accountability to Ms Benedetta Pettorini.
Other duties include:
Maintaining the knowledge and skills essential for fulfilling the job plan. The Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development as laid down by the Royal College of Surgeons. There is a strong programme of continuing medical education, including a weekly Grand Round programme in the Trust.
The Trust is committed to providing a high-quality clinical service and is strongly involved in both audit and clinical governance. It is expected that he post holder will make an active contribution to both of these areas.
Actively develop clinical research interests.
Undertake re-validation as prescribed by the General Medical Council and will be required to undergo multi-source feedback and participate in reflective practice.
All SPA time would be associated with clear objectives and outcomes.
