Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment/fixed term position for a band 6 nurse within the urology nursing team. This is a very busy and demanding service for both urology inpatients and outpatients.

The nurse will provide management of Urology patients with senior nurse support.

Main duties of the job

Role Summary: To plan and provide specialist urology nursing care to a specific group of patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Working independently in nurse-led clinics and being responsible for own caseload.

About us

Patient conditions include; urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, bladder pain, spina bifida, neurogenic bladder and various complex urology conditions.

  • At least 1 years experience of urology nursing
  • Experience of Assessing planning and implementing care of children with acute and chronic conditions
  • Demonstrates an ability to teach and has proven experience of teaching and mentoring in the clinical area
  • Shows ability to Liase with multi professionals to provide effective care
  • Caring for children with Urology conditions
  • Knowledge of urological conditions and treatment plans
  • A knowledge and background of how research/audit is applied to nursing practice.
  • Awareness of Urology and child Protection policies and procedures
  • Able to describe and demonstrate the responsibilities of a senior nurse. Effective team worker
  • Good organisational and problem- solving skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work.

  • Catherisation skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional development
  • Able to plan, implement and assess family centre care. Able to provide evidence of active involvement in developing nursing practice.
