Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available within the integrated Alder Hey and Liverpool Heart and Chest Digital Service. We are looking for a talented, highly motivated Project Manager to work across both trusts to provide support on the various projects outlined in the digital strategies in each Trust, which are plans of digital quality improvement that will work towards improving clinician satisfaction and the overall care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • The successful delivery of defined projects within a range of Digital Programmes underway.
  • To plan, support, facilitate and monitor progress across agreed projects.
  • To ensure that all the project outcomes and benefits are achieved in conjunction with the project sponsor.

About us

Alder Hey is currently working through it's Digital Futures strategy which centres around digital improvements which improve patient and staff experience and safety. Alongside this, the Trust is currently in an exciting optimisation phase for the Electronic Patient Record (Meditech), which has recently been upgraded to the latest version available, thus maximising our investment in core clinical systems to ensure our staff have the best tools available when providing patient care.

Liverpool Heart and Chest have recently become part of the Digital Aspirant scheme, which helps NHS Trusts raise their Digital Maturity. The Trust is also underway with the Digital Excellence Strategy, a 5-year programme to deliver digital initiatives enabling a wide range of benefits. The 3 core themes that underpin the strategy are 'Connecting Digitally with our Patients and Families', 'Digital Safety and Outstanding Care' and 'Insight Led Care',all underpinned by a 'back to basics' service improvement plan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As assigned, assist in the planning, implementation and introduction of business processes and projects for new systems and technologies
  • Focuses on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors, stakeholders, etc.
  • Create sound written plans for the implementation of projects and changes the post holder is responsible for
  • Creation of communication plans to ensure all stakeholders are kept informed throughout the duration of any projects or changes
  • May participate in the design and / or testing phases
  • Responsible for the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements; resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional areas; develop methods to monitor project or area progress
  • Coordinate the production of technical specifications and related documentation
  • Coordination of test plans to ensure successful testing outcomes
  • Management of third-party supplier contributions to individual projects and changes
  • Management of project and change related risks and issues ensuring successful outcomes
  • Work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes
  • Production of highlight reports
  • Maintenance of RAG status reports for all projects and changes on portfolio
  • Monitor progress and report exceptions to the Digital Programme Manager and relevant parties
  • Oversees the implementation of the project on a daily basis with regard to resources, time, budget and quality to guide team in the implementation of the project
  • Carry out audits to ensure specified requirements of customers are met through each project

  • Evidence of on-going personal and professional development

  • PRINCE2 Qualified

  • Formal delivery planning using GANT charts or similar
  • Experience of completing complex project plans and supporting documentation such as risk and issue logs, lessons learnt and communication plans.
