Job summary

We are looking for particular knowledge of the healthcare innovation funding landscape (e.g. NIHR, Innovate UK, SBRI), as well as experience of leading/writing and coordinating multi-partner collaborative funding applications. A sound understanding of IP protection and commercial contracts is desirable along with excellent stakeholder engagement across the ecosystem and managing the interface between academia, NHS, industry, public and local government.

Main duties of the job

Our Innovation Consultants will support and manage delivery of our innovation engagement, service delivery and defined innovation projects as part of the Innovation team. They will be responsible for specific areas of focus and for monitoring progress and successful delivery against agreed outcomes.

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Managing a portfolio of innovation projects as part of the Trust wide Innovation Strategy
  • Leading internal and external engagement and promotion of Alder Hey Innovation
  • Leading hospital engagement workshops and identification of healthcare challenges and technical requirements.
  • Documenting full needs description and solution requirements
  • Active technology scouting and solution identification and validation
  • Detailed project planning and milestones tracking for each project
  • Project status reporting and presenting
  • Management of internal stakeholders and external partners involved in the projects
  • Researching background on business and technical aspects of healthcare needs and solutions
  • Identifying and engaging new co-creation partners
  • Deal architecture and contract management
  • Commercial opportunity validation & project due diligence research and documentation
  • Business plan and funding pitch deck preparation
  • Daily project management and delivery including risk management, budget, resources, work packages
  • Communicate and facilitate collaboration across multiple stakeholders
  • Manage and support more junior members of the innovation team
