Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for two band 5 mental health practitioners to join us in Liverpool Fresh CAMHS at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. We encourage applications from qualified nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and experienced children and young people's wellbeing practitioners.

We are looking for individuals who have skills and experience in engaging families who are from communities that may be at increased risk of social exclusion or marginalisation.

Postholders will work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team. They will act as case managers for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems, and deliver evidence-based interventions alongside or under supervision of senior CAMHS practitioners.

Main duties of the job

  • Working as a member of an integrated multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive assessment of children, young people and families. Planning, implementing and evaluating interventions to address identified needs.
  • Acting as case manager for children and young peoplewith mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions in a group format alongside or under supervision of senior CAMHS practitioners.
  • Monitoring risk and supporting children and young people who present with more severe problems to rapidly access assessment and intervention from senior CAMHS practitioners.
  • Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
  • Adhering to Trust policies and procedures and the legislative framework in which children's mental health care is delivered.

Qualifications, Experience and Training

Essential

  • 1.Qualified in core profession such as Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Mental Health Practitioner, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or creative therapies e.g. Art Therapy. Or 2.Recognised degree level broad based health & social care qualification which will require completion of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and Attributes (KSA) http://www.babcp.com/Accreditation/CBP/KSA.aspx Or 3.Successful completion of a relevant HEE-commissioned course (for example children and young people's wellbeing practitioner, education mental health practitioner, psychological wellbeing practitioner)
  • Experience of working with children and young people and their families in either Health, Social or Education settings.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioral difficulties
  • Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
  • Experience of working with culturally diverse populations and adapting services to improve access
  • Experience of liaising and working effectively with the wider network around the child including educational, social care, family and health.
  • Experience of delivering group interventions
