The Crisis Care and Home Based Treatment team at Alder Hey Children's Hospital have an excitingopportunity for anexperienced Clinical Psychologist to join the team in a senior position. Main duties of the job
The Crisis Care Service operates 24hrs per day 7 days per week, and provides intervention and support to children, young people and families experiencing mental health crisis.
The Crisis Care Service offers support to children and young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis, as well as their parents/carers and other professionals involved in their care. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates who have knowledge, skills and experience of working with young people who are experiencing mental health crisis, as well as their families and other professionals involved in their care.
The post holder will provide a substantial contribution to the clinical work of the team, including accepting, prioritising, assessing, and treating referrals of children and their families.
In addition, they will provide consultation to professionals from other services and participate in service development. The proportion of direct clinical work, consultation and service development work undertaken will be negotiated with the clinical team manager

Essential
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Registered with the HPCP.
Desirable
- oPre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
Knowledge and Experience

- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with psychological and mental health problems and their families.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems across the full age range, reflecting all levels of severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Demonstrate further specialist training/experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a specialist clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months, or an alternative agreed by the Clinical Lead
- Commitment to multi-disciplinary team working - team player
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
