Job summary

The trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) is a training post that will extend over the 3-years. It will involve development of critical thinking and advanced clinical decision-making skills for accurate, timely and safe management of patients (within HDU and critical care supporting the role development).

Developing the four pillars of advanced practice will contribute to transforming our service delivery and improving care quality as well as meeting the health care needs of Alder Hey patients and their families/carers (e.g. positively impacting the patient experience and improving our AH capacity, capability, productivity and efficiency).

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years clinical experience in paediatric critical care and fulfil the academic entry requirements for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Paediatric) Programme at the University of Manchester. Specifically, a relevant honours first degree (Lower Second or above) from an approved higher education institution or successful completion of a Level 7 module that demonstrates your ability to study at Master's level. Shortlisting will be structured around the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice and will emphasise relevant clinical experience.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties comprise of 80% of working time, with the additional 20% of working time used for professional activities/outputs across the other 3 pillars of advanced practice. These additional leadership, educational and research (LRE) related activities will: (1) operationalise Trust values; (2) be negotiated with service/Trust leadership/management; and (3) contribute to service development, quality improvement, patient safety and/or patient experience. The PDR process will be utilised to review LRE achievements and agree on-going outcomes across the leadership, research and educational activities.
