Job summary
The duties and responsibilities of the post holder will be that they are required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to autonomously deliver a high quality radiographic service for a variety of pediatric presentations in line with departmental policies and procedures. Participation in the out of hours sessional rotation and on call service is required.
Main duties of the job
1. To learn to perform all radiographic duties to a high standard within the x-ray department including all necessary documentation and patient computer records.2. To gain a level of specialist knowledge and competency of pediatric techniques and pathologies.3. Ensure that clinical practice is updated by means of continuing professional development.4. To fully comply with local rules, professional code of conduct, codes of practice for radiation protection. To ensure that all examinations performed are justified and pertinent inline with IR(ME)R 2000 in order to reduce unnecessary ionizing radiation exposure to patients.5. Learn to acquire diagnostic images and physically position the full range of patient presentations accurately for examinations using immobilization when required.6. Assess a patients presentation for examination and decide on appropriate methods to obtain a high quality radiograph, adapting standard techniques where necessary.
7. Provide information by explanation of radiological procedures, listening to the parents and/or carers requirements in order to encourage compliance with the imaging process. Also taking in to account that some patients/ carers will have some barriers to understanding.
