Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital

The closing date is 11 May 2025

Job summary

We are able to offer a fully remote / home working position as we use a Electronic Patient Record, or a hybrid working model to suit your needs, as well as a £4,000 annual Recruitment & Retention Premia (conditions apply).

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our amazing Clinical Coding team at Liverpool Heart & Chest NHS Foundation Trust.

At LHCH we are one of the Top rated Trusts in the country year-on-year and are currently rated Outstanding by CQC two times consecutively!

We are top in the country for 'a place to work', 'care is our top priority', we are compassionate and inclusive', 'we each have a voice that counts', 'staff engagement', and 'morale' in NHS Staff Survey 2024 and are in the HSJ top 100 'Best Places To Work'.

We are a small, but dynamic and dedicated Coding team, ensuring a very high accuracy of coding is maintained across the largest single site specialist Heart & Chest Hospital in the UK.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Clinical Coder role is vital in providing efficient and high-quality Coded data, ensuring exceptional accuracy with the abstraction, analysing, translation and data entry of complex patient care records, using the (ICD-10) International Classification of Diseases and the (OPCS) Classification of Interventions and Procedure (OPCS-4).

This will be carried out to agreed timescales across a variety of case mix and complexity, ensuring the Trust meets its coding targets, DSP requirements, as well as local and national mandatory data and finance submissions.

We are looking for a experienced Clinical Coder who has already obtained their National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ), and is comfortable with regularly coding complex case mix, as well as supporting other Coders.

While the role is limited in the number of specialties available to code, it does allow for continued development and autonomy for the Senior Clinical Coder - to help improve documentation in our EPR, processes & practices, local guidance & procedures, and Clinician and wider stakeholder engagement.
