To provide managerial and clinical leadership to the Cath Lab team providing care to patients in Cath Lab setting ensuring high quality service delivery

To provide specialist clinical knowledge to the Cath Lab service using the skills and techniques gained through your practice.

Job responsibilities

CLINICAL

To undertake routine and complex investigations and implement agreed scanning techniques in a manner that respects peoples privacy, dignity and individuality. Scans will involve the use of a range of physical skills depending on the profession.

To ensure effective internal and external two-way communication with patients, carers and all other Health and Social Care Professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.

To provide and receive complex information that requires empathy and reassurance, communicating where there may be barriers to understanding.

To supervise students and junior staff in their practice to ensure on going education in all aspects of imaging modality.

To ensure that imaging techniques are evidence based and in line with current practice.

To provide specialist advice to members of the MDT

To undertake relevant research and audit within specialist field.

MANAGERIAL/LEADERSHIP

To co-ordinate the modality team at an operational level ensuring the efficient running of the service, effective communication and dissemination of information, leading the team and working closely with stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery, supporting the Lead Radiographer for Radiology and the Deputy Head of Operations for Clinical Services with the operational planning and delivery of the service.

Provide relevant accurate data as required

To represent the Radiology Service on relevant management and service development committees within the Divisions in conjunction with the Lead Radiographer for Radiology and the Deputy Head of Operations for Clinical Services.

To support the Lead Radiographer for Radiology and the Deputy Head of Operations for Clinical Services in achieving the service objectives

Organisation of students and their clinical educators for in hospital placements.

To undertake relevant research and audit within specialist field.

Responsible for implementation of policies and supporting development of policies where required

ORGANISATIONAL

To represent Radiology Services at relevant committees within the organisation

To achieve the departmental objectives for the modality specific elements of the Radiology service.

With support from the Lead Radiographer for Radiology and the Deputy Head of Operations for Clinical Services, manage any performance and work force issues within the in-hospital staffing liaising with workforce and organisational development.

To maintain accurate and up to date records

To be responsible for the proposing and implementation of policies for the specialist area and other areas in the Radiology Department.

Responsible for the specialist team in relation to arranging annual leave, clinical supervision and works within a range of organisational policies

To act as Radiation Safety Advisor (RPS) for the Radiology service ensuring safe practices are adhered to and maintained.

To maintain registration with the HCPC and comply with the standards and codes of conduct.

QUALITY

To monitor and maintain quality standards and where applicable develop local quality indicators
