Job summary

An Exciting opportunity has arisen for a domestic assistant to join our amazing team of domestic assistants. This is an evening position of 4pm-8pm Monday -Friday 20 hours per week this is to cover a role of domestic cleaning duties within Liverpool heart and chest hospital - you will be responsible for cleaning patient areas , clinical areas , office areas ,corridors, infected areas, non clinical areas , staff areas etc to the highest of cleanliness standards.

Main duties of the job

Candidate will ideally need a cleaning background , infection control knowledge and knowledge of the NHS cleaning standards- full training will be provided for this role.

POST: Hygiene Assistant

BANDING: Band 2

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Support Services Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Responsibility for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the Trust

To work as part of a team to maintain and improve standards, assist in developing the services to ensure achievement of Healthcare standards and targets as set out in the NHS Plan.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Clean all areas to the national standard of cleanliness using equipment provide to carry out hovering, buffing, scrubbing of, mopping, high and low level dusting

Take down and hang curtains on windows and bed cubicles and ensure curtains bagged correctly for laundering

Cleaning windows in wards, departments, theatres and corridors

Toilet, bathroom, shower cleaning

Deep cleaning to Trust infection control cleaning policy

Be caring and sympathetic to patients and relatives on wards, units and departments

Serving hot and cold beverages to patients

Move equipment and furniture to ensure cleaning duties complete as detailed in the cleaning schedules

Responsible for holding master and department keys during working hours and following Trust security policy

Prioritise duties around a busy working environment

To work within the trust on various locations to ensure a good skill mix, knowledge and experience is developed

Responsible for ensuring colour coded cleaning system carried out and mop heads bagged correctly for laundering in line with domestic departmental procedures

Liaise with nursing and departmental staff concerning cleaning duties, to ensure information is shared to promote a clean environment

Inform Supervisors/line manager of equipment failures/faults of any equipment used to perform duties

Responsible for cleaning domestic equipment used within the location and ensure secured safely after use, in line with Health & Safety and Housekeeping procedures

Empty clinical/domestic waste bins and dispose of in the correct designated collection point

Responsible for cleaning beds and on SICU/EDU making beds

To work as part of a busy team committed to high standards

To develop a good working relationship with colleges

To comply to all Trust policies and procedures

To ensure patient confidentiality is provided

To work with the supervisors and line manager to develop your training requirements

Responsible for completing training and development courses, workshops and sessions as required

TRAINING/DEVELOPMENT

Attend induction courses as requested.

Adhere to all procedure for fire, accidents and cardiac arrest.

Attend fire lectures when requested

Pay particular attention to the Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

Complete yearly, all mandatory Training using E-learning System

Development and training needs identified through yearly staff appraisals
