Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced enthusiastic nurse to join the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Nurse Specialist team.

Previous experience working with people with CF is essential.

Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY:

The post holder will be required to:

POST: Cystic Fibrosis Nurse Specialist

BANDING: BAND 7 AFC

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Lead CF Nurse Specialist

JOB TYPE: Fixed term permanent

JOB SUMMARY:

The post holder will be required to:

  • Be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support for the care of people with cystic fibrosis.
  • Assist in providing specialist advice, care, support and education for families and carers of people with a diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis and associated co-morbidities such as CF diabetes
  • Participate in the enhancement of the Cystic Fibrosis service that will cover the whole patient journey
  • CLINICAL
  • Be accountable for the direct delivery of care to a caseload of patients assisting in carrying out comprehensive assessments in order to plan, implement and evaluate care delivery
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge of skills in respiratory medicine in relation to the assessment, co-ordination and facilitation of admissions to hospital, instigation of home IVs and management of in and outpatient care.
  • Comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care within a variety of settings. Working independently using initiative to analyse, problem solve a range of clinical issues whilst working within the parameters of safe practice.
  • Awareness of the social and psychological impact of the disease. Involvement in assessment of these aspects of care, when to refer to outside agents and an ability to communicate and support through advanced communication skills
  • Awareness and implementation of safeguarding measures.
  • Assistance with co-ordination of care for people with CF Diabetes
  • Supporting the transition of new patients from paediatric services over to adult care.
