We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated healthcare professional to join our established, forward thinking, progressive team as a Cystic Fibrosis Nurse Specialist.

The successful applicant will work closely within the multi-disciplinary team to provide support and specialist advice to the patients within the hospital and the community setting.

You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work autonomously. A car driver is essential as the role includes providing support and care within the community

Main duties of the job

  • Be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support for the care of cystic fibrosis patients
  • Assist in providing specialist advice, care, support and education for families and carers of patients with a diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis
  • Participate in the enhancement of the Cystic Fibrosis service that will cover the whole patient journey
  • Be accountable for the direct delivery of care to a caseload of patients assisting in carrying out comprehensive assessments in order to plan, implement and evaluate care delivery
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge of skills in respiratory medicine in relation to the assessment, coordination and facilitation of admissions to hospital, instigation of home IV’s and management of in and outpatient care.
  • Comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care within a variety of settings. Working independently using initiative to analyse, problem solve a range of clinical issues whilst working within the parameters of safe practice.
  • Awareness of the social and psychological impact of the disease. Involvement in assessment of these aspects of care, when to refer to outside agents and an ability to communicate and support through advanced communication skills
