Main duties of the job
A commitment to providing the highest quality patient care. Have experience in cardiac and/or respiratory and oncology medicine. You must be an effective communicator, have excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage your own workload is essential.
To be considered for the substantive post you must have 2 years post registration experience. Previous research experience is desirable. Evidence of recent professional development is required. You should possess or be working towards a relevant degree.

RESPONSIBLE FOR: (if applicable)
1. JOB SUMMARY
To contribute to all aspects of the planning, conduct and reporting of all clinical trials within the research speciality To be responsible for the day-to-day management of patient recruitment to research studies
To work on a daily basis with minimal supervision as part of a research team
To ensure that all clinical research activity is ICH GCP compliant and conducted in accordance with the agreed protocols
To maintain a high standard of patient care in line with Trust and R&D policies and protocols and in accordance with the Research Governance Framework
To prioritise research activity as necessary thus ensuring recruitments targets are met To ensure that all data is collected and managed accurately
2. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Competent in the skills of venepuncture and IV cannulation
Maintain and complete source documentation and oversee the preparation of study activity. Record patients medical history and current health status at research clinic attendance.
Perform phlebotomy, monitor vital signs and perform other specialised nursing procedures as appropriate to the specific needs of the study and research subject.
3. MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
To participate in and co-ordinate planning, development and implementation of clinical protocols in accordance with research parameters.
Plan and carry out protocols for the screening, recruitment and retention of clinical research subjects, instructing subjects on treatment methods and protocol.
Undertake appropriate data collection systems and procedures, specimen collection, processing and recording of clinical data and/or specimen samples as required by established study protocol
Update the research database with clinical data
4. EDUCATION AND TRAINING
To keep up to date and comply with departmental and Trust policies and NHS developments for the management of clinical research.
To attend courses and study days as deemed relevant to post. To act as a personal and professional role model at all times.
Maintain the Personal Development Plan in discussions with line manager.
To take responsibility for meeting with senior staff for support and clinical supervision.
