Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Band 7 Ward Manager on Ward 2C/RSU Respiratory Medicine.

We are currently looking torecruit a dynamic, highly motivated, and skilled Band 7 Ward Manager, with the passion to drive forward high-quality care and the patient safety agenda, along with the enthusiasm to support developments and expansion of the respiratory unit.

Ward 2C consists of a 31 bedded respiratory ward and a six bedded NIV unit.

Interviews will be held week commencing Monday 27th April 2026.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will report to and be professionally accountable to the Matron and should be an experienced senior nurse with a minimum of two years' experience at Band 6 in an acute setting. The post holder will be expected to undertake training to be able to care for patients who require NIV.

The Ward Manager is responsible for ensuring that high quality, effective and safe nursing care is delivered to all patients attending our Trust and it is essential that you have the ability to work as part of a wider team. Strong visible leadership is a key attribute.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
