Job summary
Newton Intermediate care is an Inpatient ward at Newton Community Hospital providing Intermediate Care in a community setting, including nursing, medical, therapy and social care interventions for patients who require specialist care and support.
Newton provides rehabilitation for patients who are medically fit to leave the acute care but require more therapy or clinical input to help them return home (or assisted care environment).
Intermediate care is an extremely rewarding job with a team of staff that are dedicated and passionate about the holistic care they provide. The aim is to ensure quality assessments and treatment to aid people to recover to previous functional ability following illness or injury and promote health, wellbeing and independence supporting them to remain within their own home and prevent admission to the acute hospitals.
Successful candidates will be required to provide a high standard of person-centred care and play a vital role in supporting the daily needs of our patients.
Candidates must be caring and compassionate, able to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients and their families.
Previous experience desirable however training and support will be provided on induction and shadow shifts.

As this is a patient facing role, applicants need to be aged 18 or over.

To accept responsibility for specifically delegated functions within the ward which the Nurse in Charge feels are appropriate for untrained staff to carry out.
To ensure where entries are made in nursing documentation, that these are correct, legible, and comprehensive and countersigned by a registered Nurse.
To understand and adhere to all Trust Values, policies & procedures.
To ensure the Health and Safety of patients, relatives and other staff is considered and not prejudiced by the post-holder at any time.
