An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic individuals to join a developing and motivated team of pharmacy staff serving Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. We are currently developing and expanding our medicines management practices both within the department and at ward level. This post will be key to our planned developments and will be based at Southport & District Hospital within a modernised dispensary setting, although ability to work on both sites is essential and will involve dispensing for in-patient and discharge. Duties will include working within the Pharmacy Department & at ward level, general stock control, ordering, supply & dispensing of medicines.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate with other team members of the pharmacy staff aiming to provide an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service within the pharmacy departments of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist. Duties will include labelling, dispensing, stock rotation, storage, dealing with dispensary queries and patient counselling.

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
