Do you want to be part of an innovative cardiac service offering the highest quality care for patients?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardiac Rehabilitation Therapy Team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital for a Specialist Physiotherapist.

The ideal candidate will have more than two years' experience as a band five in a broad range of NHS rotations. You will have a proven track record of outstanding communication, assessment and transferable skills as well as knowledge of complex and long-term conditions.

The post holder will provide a high-quality physiotherapy service to patients in the St Helens area through all stages of their Cardiac Rehabilitation journey. You will do this through clinics as well as evidence-based education and provide rehabilitation classes to groups of patients as well as giving exercise prescription to individuals.

As a non-rotational physiotherapist, you will act as a link person in the day to day running of the area of specialty, liaising with other professional team members. The service provides care both in a clinic and home environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Deliver a high standard of evidence-based care

Be able to carry out complex holistic assessments

Make prompt clinically reasoned decisions

Work flexibly and adaptably when appropriate

Have a working knowledge of a broad range of conditions with proven clinical skills

Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme to a specialised caseload including patient education, exercise classes, exercise testing and other alternate options.

Supervise staff within the team and students on placement

Have experience of quality issues and audit

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
