Job summary
This post is for a consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine. This is a whole-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview. CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation of successful application.

Main duties of the job
The post holders will join the diabetes & endocrinology multi-professional team and will work with all team members, including the two registrars and will contribute to Diabetes & Endocrinology clinics (2 clinics) and General Internal Medicine (3.5 sessions).
The first-year job plan will be agreed with the Clinical Director following appointment. The post is for a 10.5 PA job plan. Additional specialty sessions in Diabetes and Endocrinology are negotiable.
The successful applicant will be expected to conduct one multidisciplinary diabetes foot clinic every alternate week which would be based at the Diabetes Centre in St Helens Hospital. They will be expected to see up to 4 new patients and 6 follow up patients per clinic in conjunction with podiatry support.
They would also be part of the Joint Antenatal Service and conduct one clinic per week. They will be expected to lead the monthly multi disciplinary team meeting where complex cases would be discussed. Each joint antenatal clinic will have up to 12 new patients and 8 follow up patients for consultant assessment and is normally supported by two consultants including the successful applicant.
They are also expected to conduct one Endocrinology Clinic every alternate week. Each endocrinology clinic will have 4 new patients and 6 follow up patients.
Additional specialty sessions (in both Diabetes and Endocrinology) are negotiable.
The appointee will be required to take part in the on-call rota.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
