Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in Fracture Clinic.

The successful applicant will work in our diverse department, taking responsibility for the delivery of safe, excellent care to our patients. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as they will be expected to act as a clinical role model to other staff and to work effectively with the large MDT within the department. The successful candidate will work well under pressure and be able to demonstrate excellent clinical and leadership skills.

Our Department covers both Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals and at times, the post holder may be expected to work across both sites to meet the demands of the service.

Main duties of the job

Leading a team of Nursing and HCAs in fracture clinic and providing a high quality service to our patients, by ensuring the smooth and steady flow of the department by following local policies and SOPs.

Leading in the nurse-led dressings clinic.

Taking an active role in the mentorship of our Student Nurses and development of junior staff.

To actively promote quality improvement within the department.

Participation in audit.

To co-ordinate in the department in the absence of the Department Manager and Sister.

Safe handling of patient information in line with local and national policies.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
