Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist with relevant working experience to join a well-established and supportive Therapy Team with a strong emphasis on multi-disciplinary team working which works across 7 days.

This is an Occupational Therapy post within the Medical, Surgical acute service, which will be primarily based at Southport District General Hospital. There is scope within this role to obtain experience working on acute and sub acute medical wards as well as our community discharge to assess bed base. There is also opportunity to work within our innovative therapy/ nurse led unit.

You must have:

  • Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
  • Relevant experience in the acute and rehabilitation services.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hrs which may include flexible (weekend and extended days) and cross site working.

This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for vulnerable adult's disclosure)

Main duties of the job

Job Summary1. To assess and treat patients within Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust including home visits when required.2. To support service development and the provision of a quality service.3. To take responsibility for members of staff and delegate duties as necessary, providing appropriate level of support at all times.4. To meet the Occupational Therapy/Rehabilitation Service objectives.5. To cover for absence when required

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

  • To be actively involved in the collecting of appropriate data and statistics for the use of the Trust.
  • To be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies, which may be required to improve the safety of your work area, including the prompt recording and reporting of incidents via the Datix system, informing the occupational therapy team leader.
