Job summary
The Emergency Department at Whiston Hospital is looking for experienced and enthusiastic emergency medicine doctors to join our committed ED team as Senior Clinical Fellows.
Successful candidates will help us build on our excellent reputation for delivering high quality patient care and be instrumental in enhancing our capacity to deliver a world-class emergency service. The role will not only involve delivering direct clinical care to patients but will also require supervision of junior staff, students and allied health professionals, delivery of teaching, and engagement with departmental quality improvement and governance.
For those candidates who demonstrate commitment to a career in Emergency medicine there will be the opportunity to pursue the Certificate of Equivalent Specialist Registration (CESR). The department and faculty will support candidates in gaining RCEM portfolio and ultrasound competencies as well as relevant specialty training via secondments to Anaesthetics, Critical Care, Paediatrics and Acute Medicine as required. This bespoke training is supported by an enthusiastic team of ED consultants, including formal Clinical Educators, who will guide and prepare you for the FRCEM examinations.
There is a requirement for on-calls with this role, paid at banding supplement 1A.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be expected to:
Contribute to the Emergency service at Whiston Hospital participating in the initial assessment, treatment, referral and disposition of patients attending the Emergency Department.
Work a shift pattern including weekends. Tailored job plan to personal needs can be discussed at the interview.
Develop skills in managing the department to avoid unnecessary patient waits and maintain good clinical care to all patients.
To participate in clinical audit and activities.
To participate in continuing professional development. Study leave is actively encouraged and there is significant financial support for appropriate courses.
