Job summary
The Specialist Midwife for ANNB (post holder) will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the NHS antenatal and new-born screening programmes within the trust, consistent with UK National Screening Committee recommendations (UK NSC) and Public Health England (PHE) to ensure the programmes run efficiently and effectively, complying with quality standards.
The post holder will have highly developed specialist knowledge and experience in the field of antenatal and new-born screening to report and resolve quality and performance problems. He/she will lead on the development and implementation of relevant guidelines ensuring evidence based and best practice. Ensure compliance with internal and external healthcare standards.
Main duties of the job
Within the multi-professional team, leads co-ordination of implementation and development of antenatal and new-born screening programmes consistent with new national standards, guidance and research.
Supports and assists other health professionals in the delivery of the NHS antenatal and new-born screening programmes.
Be part of the multidisciplinary team supporting clients and staff involved in the delivery of the screening pathways, and will be actively involved in the process to monitor the effectiveness of the pathways.
Identifies Antenatal and New-born (ANNB) screening developments and makes recommendations to the Senior Midwifery team about goals, standards and the use of targeting of resources.
Lead on the implantation of immunisation programmes within the Maternity services.
Produce annual and quarterly reports for ANNB screening/immunisation programmes in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team and disseminates the reports to the Head of Midwifery, Matron for maternity services, Consultant Midwife, the UK NSC and PHE Screening and Immunisation teams, CCG Screening Leads, the CBU Governance Committee and Maternity care forum.
Responsible for the development and review of appropriate screening policies, guidelines and procedures and service redesign through local audit of guidelines and practice, and facilitate their implementation based on national guidance.

Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
