Main duties of the job

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital.

This includes adults' and children's accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities.

Women's and children's services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk Hospital.

Job responsibilities

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

We are looking to appoint an LAS CT1/2 doctor to cover a Training gap in General Surgery . The successful candidate will be required to join our busy Consultant-led team. The post will primarily support the General Surgical specialty. The post holder will be expected to carry out Ward rounds, General Surgery out-patient clinics and will also undertake theatre sessions.The position is based across the 2 hospital sites, Southport & Formby District General and Ormskirk District General Hospital.

Applicants should have full GMC Registration with licence to practice and have completed ST2 level training or equivalent.

  • Must have experience in managing elective patients in both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
  • Must hold up to date ATLS certificate.
  • Experience with laparoscopic surgery.
  • Evidence of operative skills in General surgery
  • Ability to work unsupervised

Desirable

  • Experience with endoscopy

Teaching and Education

  • Proven ability to teach
  • Commitment to teaching and super-vision of junior staff

  • Evidence of commitment to further continuous professional development
