Job summary

This post is for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine. This is a fixed term 12 months post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals.

The position will enable the Respiratory Department to continue to develop high quality Respiratory services in a large teaching secondary care hospital that has been completely rebuilt with states of the arts facilities and cardiac diagnostics. The appointees will be expected to have extensive general Respiratory medicine training and experience with competency and subspecialty experience in all aspects of Respiratory condition management. Further sub speciality interest is desirable and will be encouraged.

Applicants must be eligible for full Registration with the GMC at time of appointment.

Main duties of the job

  • To observe the provisions of and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.
  • To actively participate in annual performance review to identify personal development needs.
  • To attend Trust Statutory and Mandatory training sessions as required and any other training courses relevant to the post.
  • To fully comply with the relevant sections of the Health and Safety at Work Act. The post holder must also understand and implement St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals NHS Hospitals Trust's "Statement of Policy on Health and Safety at Work" and the Trust's corporate "Health and Safety Policies and Procedures". The post holder is required to follow all applicable rules and procedures relating to Health and Safety at Work and to take all responsible precautions.
  • To be aware of the confidential aspects of the post. To keep up to date with the requirements of information governance; undertake mandatory training and follow Trust policies and procedures to ensure that trust information is dealt with legally, securely, efficiently and effectively. Breaches of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action that may involve dismissal.   • Ability to perform ultrasound guided procedures independently (pleural ultrasound)
