The Integrated Intelligence & Improvement Service (IIIS) specialises in statutory reporting, analysis, business intelligence, performance monitoring and service improvement. Due to promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Specialist Information analyst to join our dynamic team. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the production and maintenance of a suite of reporting to support the delivery of operational, clinical, performance monitoring and data quality issues utilising the appropriate tool for the piece of work, for example, Power BI. You will need to be skilled at managing and manipulating data using SQL. This role will also have a focus on developing and delivering reporting in the form of dashboards via Microsoft Power Bi or Excel, as well as providing analysis and expert advice for your key work areas. You should possess the ability to scope, produce and present analyses to key stakeholders, senior managers, and clinicians. Data interpretation and communication will be pivotal to being successful in this role.

This role will work across two teams within the IIIS; the Business Intelligence Team and the Performance team. Professional leadership and ongoing education will be provided by the BI team whilst direction will be set by the Performance team. The key area of focus is Contract Monitoring and the Commissioning landscape.

You will be educated to degree level in a subject with mathematical content or equivalent qualification and/or equivalent experience. You will possess strong analytical skills and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of health-related data is advantageous but not essential

  • To communicate the conclusions drawn from complex analysis undertaken and to offer advice on the implications of the results.
  • To provide business and operational information and performance monitoring reports which will meet the requirements of the Trust and Sub-ICB.
  • To assist the Performance Manager to provide expert advice to help managers interpret and analyse data.
  • To ensure high quality and accuracy of all analyses and report presentation.
  • Manage data using SQL and develop complex reports in Power BI.
  • To contribute to the scheduled production of activity analysis and information for inclusion within Trust and Sub-ICB Committee and Board reports, developing the content and format in response to changing organisational requirements
  • To provide performance management information showing achievements against the NHS Operating Framework
  • To ensure that all statutory activity data are collected, collated, validated, quality assured and submitted to the Department of Health, NHS Digital; that the data is accurate, signed off by a Senior Manager and submitted within agreed timetables.
  • To assist the department by providing expert advice and support on data availability, data definitions and data validity
  • To undertake complex ad hoc requests and validate other ad hoc requests undertaken by junior staff.

  • To advise, as appropriate, on changes to national data sets or definitions and recording of patient information to communicate such changes to senior staff, so that appropriate action can be taken.

  • Ensure confidentiality of patient data at all times, by awareness and compliance with existing legislation and good practice, for example Data Protection Act 1998; Caldicott principles and recommendations; local policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to relevant Code of Practice of Professional body.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To publish the performance monitoring information in whichever media is required including web-based material that is useful and accessible to users.

TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To deputise for the Performance Manager as appropriate
  • The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of at least one Data Analyst, providing expert analytical information services to the Trust or Sub-ICB.
  • To arrange regular meetings with the Data Analyst to communicate workload, priorities and to discuss any other issues.
