Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our friendly and cohesive Colorectal Team.

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with demonstrable clinical experience in all aspects of colorectal surgery, particularly colorectal cancer, who is able to function well in a team as well as under their own initiative and who can respond to changing service priorities.

You will be expected to deliver and support high standards of clinical care both as a direct care giver and indirectly through the support and education of the wider workforce.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be working within one of the busiest colorectal teams in the Northwest. We have in excess of 250 newly diagnosed Colorectal Cancer patients per year and work very closely within the oncology team and tertiary centres throughout the Northwest and further afield. You will require exemplary organisational skills to help us deliver exceptional care to cancer patients within the in-patient and out-patient setting. You will work alongside our colorectal surgeons and medical oncology teams in parallel to hospital and community teams for the management of holistic patient care.

This is a challenging but very rewarding position which requires commitment and drive.

Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to on-going care needs and discharge arrangements.

Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives and professionals across health and social care services.

Contribute to the health promotion agenda within the local health economy.

Provide expert clinical knowledge to patients carers.

Responsible for the development of guidelines and policies relating to own area of practice.

Promote peoples equality and diversity and rights, acting as the patients advocate.
