Job summary

Early Diagnosis Support Worker Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) pathways

Band 4

Full time, 37.5 hours per week Mon-Friday

£25,147-27,596

Main duties of the job

This post will support in delivering the Best Practice Timed Pathway and the key component of a Faster Diagnostic Service 'excellent patient coordination and support'.

This post will:

  • Improve patient care and experience
  • Reduce inefficiencies within a cancer pathway
  • Support patients throughout their pathway

The EDSW will also:

  • Support the HCC and IPMN surveillance programmes
    • Undertake the tracking of cancer surveillance patients which supports the early diagnosis of cancer and reduce cancellations/DNAs
    • Monitor flagged scans
    • Patient follow up
  • Track and chase diagnostic scans
  • Support and coordinate referrals to the sMDT and communicate with the specialist centre
  • Undertake admin duties which will increase clinical capacity for CNSs
  • Chase blood tests
  • Carry out Holistic Needs Assessments
  • Support the referral process to the community team
  • Liaise with inpatients as required
