Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Director of Service Operations. The post is an integral part of the Digital Leadership Team of Mid Mersey Digital Alliance.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside the other members of the Digital Leadership Team you will provide expert leadership to 3 customer facing teams: Service Desk, Desktop Support and Switchboard.

In addition to the leadership of the teams the ADO of Service Operations will own many of the service management functions including Incident, Change and Problem Management working with each of the services to ensure the service maintains it's high level of service delivery.

About us

You must be able to demonstrate experience of leading an IT Operational Team and experience of designing / overseeing Service Management Process. Leading a service improvement programme within an IT service is desirable.

Job responsibilities

To work with the Deputy Director of Informatics, Trust Boards, Executive Directors, Senior Clinicians, general managers, MMDA staff and other key stakeholders within the HIS Partner organisations and the wider community in the overall management of the strategic direction and delivery of ICT service for the Shared Service Partners of the St Helens & Knowsley Health Informatics Service including but not limited to:-

  • ICT Service Delivery (Service Desk, Taskforce, IT Procurement, IT Stores and Switchboard)
  • Partner SLA negotiation / management
  • Promote, champion and drive the implementation and adoption of policies and procedures based on best practice e.g. ITIL, ISO27001, Prince2, MSP, etc.
  • Major incidents management / reporting / investigation
  • Workforce development
  • Risk management
  • Budget management

The post holder will provide high level leadership and management to the day to day operations within the HIS ICT Operations function. The post holder will lead on the development and delivery of high quality, customer-focused and secure IT services that support the delivery of high quality patient care, whilst ensuring the successful delivery of technology for, and integration with, the local health community.

  • Degree qualification or Post Graduate qualification MSc/MBA or equivalent demonstrable experience at a senior level.
  • Relevant ICT qualifications (e.g. CCIE/MCSE, PRINCE2, ITIL Practitioner)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Membership of relevant professional or registered body

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience working at a Senior Level in a large, complex, NHS IT department working with various IT systems
  • Significant experience with significant involvement in managing demand from multiple work streams including large scale projects
  • Experience of inter-action with senior staff/directors in various disciplines

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Microsoft, VMWare and other Core ICT Services licencing models

  • Effective leadership, management and motivational skills and the ability to develop an efficient team
  • Extensive IT Skills

  • Ability to travel various hospital locations by own car/ assisted driver
