Antenatal and Newborn Screening Co-coordinator

Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to jointly lead and coordinate the antenatal and newborn screening services within the Trust. This pivotal role ensures that all screening programmes are delivered in accordance with National Screening Committee (NSC) guidelines, national standards, and service specifications. You will provide expert advice, support women through positive screening results, and facilitate necessary diagnostic tests and decision-making, including the continuation or termination of pregnancy.

The post holder will have highly developed specialist knowledge and experience in the field of antenatal and newborn screening to report and resolve quality and performance problems.Education and training will be a key aspect of the role to ensure staff are competent and confident in the delivery and the management of the existing and new screening pathways.

Main duties of the job

You will also be responsible for delivering training to staff, participating in quality assurance assessments, and managing screening incidents in line with national guidance.The post holder will be part of the multidisciplinary team supporting clients and staff involved in the delivery of the screening pathways, and will be actively involved in the process to monitor the effectiveness of the pathways and provide clinical care and counselling where appropriate.

The post holder will be responsible for the development of appropriate screening policies, guidelines and procedures and service redesign through local audit of policies and practice, and facilitate their implementation based on national guidance.The post holder will also be responsible for the routine monitoring of performance data against national standards provided by Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH ) to support improvements in quality and changes in the programme when required.

  • Degree or equivalent level of experience in health related subject
  • Experience of working with ANNB screening programmes
  • Significant post registration experience working in a related role
  • Experience of managing risk within a department
