Job summary

Due to service development an opportunity has arisen within the ophthalmology service, for an additional Ophthalmic Technician to join our team, this post is 15 hours worked over a fixed pattern week; some early evening clinics/weekend clinics may be required. You will work as part of our friendly multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a wide range of technical support services which will include working in visual field clinics and providing support to our ophthalmic photography services in the ophthalmic imaging unit, as well as providing biometry support to our cataract service.

Previous experience of working in a health environment would be advantageous, previous experience in the field of ophthalmology is required.

The position is based in the Ophthalmology Department, on the Arrowe Park Hospital site.

We are an accredited teaching hospital for orthoptic under-graduates, medical students; junior doctors, student nurses and pre-registration optometrists, and demonstration of your role to these professions would be included in your job role.

Main duties of the job

This role supports the diagnostic delivery of ophthalmology services and includes but not exclusive to : Automated perimetry ; ophthalmic imaging including anterior and posterior segment; biometry and corneal topography

  • Minimum BTEC level 3 or equivalent
  • ideally have undertaken or be working towards foundation degree in ophthalmic care
