Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking, professional and friendly staff nurse to join the team within the Pre-Operative Assessment Service. This post covers both Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge sites.

You will be joining the team at a very exciting time of service redesign and development.

The successful candidate will have 2 years of recent surgical or anaesthetic experience, they will be competent in determining normal from abnormal pre-operative investigation results.

Teaching and Assessing qualification is also essential.

The essential skills will include venepuncture, ecg recording, excellent communicator.Basic ECG interpretation is desirable.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent infection control practice along with evidence of working within the Trust values.

Main duties of the job

This is a highly skilled role in which you will learn to optimise patient's fitness to undergo anaesthesia and surgery.

A wide knowledge of clinical conditions and co-morbidities is needed in order safely assess patients.

Staff work autonomously and independently using clinical judgement to make the correct decision on any action to be taken to optimise the patients' health and social care.

Upon joining, you will work closely with 2 designated mentors who will support your training programme and learning pathway.

Nurses in this department work with a full multi-disciplinary team including, HCAs, Anaesthetists, pharmacists on a day to day basis
