Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to join the Estates, Facilities and Support Services Directorate as a security officer within the Security Department. The role provides a security service to both the Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospital sites within the Wirral University Teaching Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust.
Applicants will be required to provide a flexible, high quality service extending care and consideration to patients, staff and visitors as well as responding and managing challenging situations that will require prompt and appropriate action in a courteous and helpful manner.
Main duties of the job
- Deal with sensitive issues and empathetically support staff with complex and highly emotive issues as a result of the wider impact of violent physical assaults
- Provide and receive confidential information relating to the care of patients, workforce issues and NHS Protect imperatives
- To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations
- To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of theData Protection Act and its amendments
- To participate in the selection and recruitment of staff and thereafter be responsible for induction, training, proficiency, and appraisal
- To make decisions on workload allocation during periods of annual leave to ensure activity matches resources
- To participate in problem solving in order to address and resolve matters to ensure the maintenance of an effective and efficient service for the department and the site
- To act as first escalation for any problems/queries/complaints arising from the day-to-day management of security. To direct any official complaints in line with policy
- The post holder has Freedom to act and provide advice and guidance commensurate with their role and experience, including communication with external stakeholders
