The Wirral University Teaching Hospital medicines management team is looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to lead our ward-based services. You will actively participate in senior management meetings and look to develop an already experienced team.
As a dynamic individual, you will ensure the efficient and smooth running of the service and lead on projects and HR for the team. You will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence so staff, patients and their families so they can have confidence in the service and seek advice and support.
You should be highly competent, hardworking and reliable with excellent organisational, coaching and team leading skills. You should have experience of working under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy and quality of your services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential and the ability to engage the team is a must. You will be supported by 3 Deputy Team Leaders

As the Team Leader for Ward Medicines Management Technicians, you will oversee pharmaceutical care provided to the wards by the team. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing an experienced team of Medicines Management Technicians.
- Coordinating daily ward pharmacy operations, including medication history taking, drug supply, and patient counselling.
- Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Providing training, mentorship, and professional development for team members.
- Conducting audits and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
- Managing inventory and ensuring the availability of necessary medications.
- Involvement with medication incidents and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide HR leadership to the team.
- Co-ordinate rotas and a team-based approach to the service.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with extensive knowledge of pharmacy practices and regulations, are essential.
