Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, efficient and organised individual to join our procurement and Homecare team within the Pharmacy Department at Clatterbridge Hospital.
The postholder will be responsible for purchasing medicines for use throughout Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH) and for external customers under service level agreements.
They will ensure a cost effective and timely supply of medicines in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines and NHS medicine procurement contracts.
You must have knowledge of procurement methods acquired through CIPS qualification or equivalent experience working in pharmacy procurement .
The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be working within a busy team and will be communicating with a variety of professionals across the Trust.
Full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
- View daily recommended orders and adjust stock levels as necessary according to usage, and order via the JAC pharmacy computer system.
- Meet all deadlines for placing orders with wholesalers and manufactures to avoid additional charges.
- Ensure that all drugs are available when needed for patients without overstocking the pharmacy department.
- Ensure that orders are transmitted to correct suppliers via powergate (electronic order transfer) or telephone within designated deadlines.
- Make necessary movement of internal stock via the pharmacy computer stock control system between the two hospital sites.
- Follow-up all outstanding orders to ensure that stock is delivered promptly and avoid out of stock situations. Place orders with alternative suppliers if necessary.
- Ensure that the "manufacturers delay" report is kept up to date daily and identify urgent medicines out of stock for critical areas e.g. ITU, A& E Majors and liaise withMedicines Management Pharmacist in order to enable alternative arrangements if necessary.
- Assist other pharmacy staff of a variety of grades and designations with queries relating to stock levels and outstanding orders and respond quickly to urgent situations, arranging transport and authorising courier services charge for emergency deliveries.
